2. Welcome to the world of PLC Programming!
You are embarking on a
career that is potentially exciting and satisfying. Entering this field certainly
places you at the foreground of Industrial Control. Contrary to what some say,
this field will be around for many years to come.
(You only need to put in the effort necessary to stay current with the technology.)
3. Welcome to PLCS.NET!
This site, provided by Phil Melore (Thanks Phil!) provides a FREE tutorial for your benefit. You can access it at the top of the page under “LEARN PLCS”. Phil has also written a book that provides an in-depth explanation of PLC’s and their functions. BUY IT! STUDY IT!
4. Starving EGO’s!
Here, at PLCS.NET, you will find many experienced PLC Programmers. Some of these programmers are simply working for the man; some are Trainers; and others (I don’t know how they find the time) are Owners of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) companies or companies that provide PLC Programming Services!
These programmers are professionals! They all have egos that need to be fed! They feed their egos by helping YOU!
5. Tips for Posting
When posing your question, remember that the various PLC’s use some terms and symbols that are unique to their product line. If you specify a question strictly in the unique terms used by your particular PLC you might be excluding some people from helping you. This is because some people won't recognize or understand the specific terms you are using.
While the general rule, “If you can program one PLC, you can program them all ” certainly is true, it is only true to the extent that one needs to learn the particular identifiers and symbols of the unfamiliar PLC.
So, try to be as general as possible so as to include all of the possible respondents, and yet be as specific as necessary to clearly identify the problem.
If questions are asked and answered in this manner, then many more stand to benefit! That is, after all, why we are here!
Whenever possible, include a drawing of the rungs. Refer to the HTML Reference for tips. (Please note that there is a section/conference for testing, if you wish.)
Press the Preview button to preview your question before posting; edit as needed.
Try to keep all dialogs on-site! Everyone should share in the questions and the responses!
If uploading a file, please be sure the file does not have a Virus! (only allowed for registered users. 50Kb max file size.)
6. Take a second to register! (We don't send spam or give away your email address)
Registering let's you receive an email when somebody replies to your post/question and helps you stay "in the conversation". Registered users can also upload files to the server and use fancy formatting (HTML), pictures/images, signatures, etc.
7. Again,
Please,
