Modicon 984 and 884 are "hard" PLCs and are programmed in Relay Ladder Logic. Steeplechase is a "soft" PLC, which uses a flowchart style of programming.
Steeplechase was bought by Schneider Electric (they also own Modicon). Recently Steeplchase and Think-N-Do created a joint venture company called Entivity to promote and sell soft PLCs.
