We are having unit which is controlled by 5 PLCs and one SLC. All the PLCs are networked using ControlNet. The PLC programmer is also connected to the ControlNet network. In order to maintain uniformity, we intend to put the SLC also on the ControlNet network. We need to modify/ download programs in the SLC via ControlNet and also have 3 message instructions that the SLC uses to talk to one of the PLCs. All 3 messages are of non-continuous nature. The choice of modules is between 1747- KFC15 and 1747-SCNR. Which module will serve our purpose best?

Use the 1747-KFC15. It can handle up/download and MSGs. The 1747-SCNR is ONLY for scheduled communications, and you indicated that the messages aren't continuous, and you didn't mention needing to control I/O.
